Hi Fred,

sorry for my late reply. Yeah, I've been meaning to get back in the keyword game. Play around with keywords. I haven't really used the google keyword generator that much. Have you? Do you use keywords for your ads?

Hey Joe,

The best way to target the YouTube ads you screenshotted is with keywords. Then you'll show up in the 'Related Videos' section of videos whose titles and descriptions include the keywords you used in your targeting.

YT has made some recent changes so you only pay when someone clicks to watch your ad or doesn't skip it (when they have the option). I've gotten views for as cheap as $0.10.

Let me know if you ever want help setting up a campaign.

Gregg!

Yeah, this is not much of a technical masterpiece, so most filmmakers and critics will check out early. Oh well.

It's been suggested to me by others as well to go after fans of shows with a similar comedic tone. I would love to, but the problem is which shows? I, of curse, would love the audience to see my work in the same light as some terrific indie / alt comedies, but the similarities might be wishful thinking and my movie is nothing like the ones i wish it was. I dunno. I'm going to play with comedy crowds further down the line.

thanks man! And it's not meant to be a dig at film makers, but outside of one who make documentaries, most filmmakers don't know who their audience is so they gravitate towards the film community, which is mostly made up of filmmakers and film critics. That group tends to have 'seen it all' and is hard to connect with.

Joe, first if all Congrats on all of your hard work and tenacity seeing the project through. Great insights to the do it yourself filmaking process. One thing that stuck out to me in particular was the idea of not promoting your work to other film makers, because they are usually more interested in showing you stuff than watching yours. I know I am often guilty of this myself. Producers make horrible audiences, I couldn't agree more. With that said, again great job.

This is a great exercise that you're sharing with us Joe. It's cool to see you try these things out in the real (cyber) world.

I think having seen the film that you're heading in the right direction of targets. Filmmakers are a tough crowd b/c a lot of them want to see your defects as it relates to their prowess, not really support you.

I'd recommend you go after people who are into the weirder Adult Swim programming b/c the bizarre unexpected stuff is where I think the film shines the most and that crowd would probably get it and enjoy it.
